Flower Friday: November 16th – Maple

I learned about Flower Friday from Lorilin@Bugbugbooks last month and have been having a lot of fun sharing some flower pics every Friday.

I’m going to totally cheat today and share a picture of one of our maple trees. It’s not a flower, but maples have to be my favorite trees in the fall and they actually remind me of flowers as they first begin to turn.

Thanks for checking out Flower Friday!

Maples are lush, subtle growers that produce excellent shady and rust-color leaves. But, they have to be the sugar maple (Acer saccharum)!! I planted a couple of silver maples once and I found the colors weren’t nearly as rich and varied as the sugar maples I had.

Btw, I think a tree’s leaf color qualifies as a flower.

    1. I feel the same, David! They are the best trees in fall. I didn’t know that about silver maples! I’ve seen red silver maples, but yeah, they aren’t as pretty. Thanks for sharing that! 💜😄

Ahah! I was hoping to see the maple tree this fall and thought I would miss out on it because of my travels. Now, I see how beautiful it is this fall. Thanks for ‘this’ post Jen! 🙂❤️🍁

  3. I love maple trees, too. 🙂 Especially in the fall, and especially sugar maples. They’re just so gorgeous. I love the photo you posted of the leaves just starting to turn. So pretty. 🙂 Ours have completely changed and lost most of their leaves by now. There was one day a week or two ago that I swear the yard was absolutely COVERED in fallen yellow leaves by the time I came home from work. You couldn’t see any grass and it pretty much all happened in just a few hours. I think we’re in for a rough winter. Yikes!

    1. I just love that when the leaves all fall to the ground. So beautiful! I think you may be right about the winter! Guess we’ll see. I’d be so happy to just have a white Christmas!! ❤ Thanks for commenting. 🙂
