-Music Monday-
This meme was created by Drew @ The Tattooed Book Geek. You pick a song that you really like and share it on Monday. I love this meme and look forward to sharing a new song every week! Hope you enjoy. 🖤
Henry Rollins has been a favorite of mine since Black Flag. Here’s a song from Weight titled “Liar.”
I’ve always thought this song was about a man who preys on vulnerable women, but some people say it’s about living with a schitzophrenic or bipolar person. What do you think? Either way, I think it’s an awesome song.
I also learned while researching the song that it happened by chance. They were tuning up for practice and the song just came together unexpectedly. I guess they had to idea it would become as popular as it did. I love stories like that.
Lyrics: [Video Version]
So you think you’re going to live your life alone
In darkness and seclusion… yeah, I know
You’ve been out there and tried to mix with the animals
And it just left you full of humiliated confusion
But the feeling of loneliness never leaves you
It haunts you everywhere you go
And then you meet me and your whole world changes
Because everything I say is everything you’ve ever wanted to hear
So you drop your defenses, and you drop all your fears
And you’re so busy feeling good that you never
Question why things are going so well
You wanna know why?
Cause I’m a liar
Yeah I’m a liar
I’ll tear your mind out
I’ll burn your soul
I’ll turn you into me
I’ll turn you into me
Cause I’m a liar, a liar
A liar, a liar
I’ll hide behind a smile
And understanding eyes
And I’ll tell you things that you already know
So you can say, “I really identify with you, so much”
And all the time that you’re needing me
Is just the time that I’m bleeding you
Don’t you get it yet?
I’ll come to you like an affliction
And I’ll leave you like an addiction
You’ll never forget me
You wanna know why?
Cause I’m a liar
Yeah I’m a liar
I’ll tear your mind out
I’ll burn your soul
I’ll turn you into me
I’ll turn you into me
Cause I’m a liar, a liar
A liar, a liar
Liar, liar, liar, liar
I don’t know why I feel the need to lie
And cause you so much pain
Maybe it’s something inside
Maybe it’s something I can’t explain
Cause all I do
Is mess you up and lie to you
I’m a liar
Oh, I’m a liar
But if you’ll give just one more chance I swear I will never lie to you again
‘Cause now I see the destructive power of a lie,
That’s stronger than truth
I can’t believe I ever hurt you, I swear I will never lie to you again
Please, just give me more chance, I’ll never lie to you again, no,
I swear… I will never tell a lie, I will never tell a lie, no, no…
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ho Ho Ho Ho! Sucker! Sucker! Sucker!
I am a liar, yeah, I am a liar, yeah
I like it, I feel good, I am a liar, yeah
I lie, I lie, I lie… oh, I lie,
I’ll lie again, I’ll lie again and again… I’ll keep lying, I promise.

Cool song and lyrics. The lyrics could relate to either meaning.

The lyrics definitely relate to a relationship I recently said goodbye to after 9 years of living ‘with’ and ‘without’ a bipolar person. Glad to be where I am now.
I loved the interview. He is a very strong man. Perfect Music Monday post! 😃

I’m glad you are where you are too! I agree, he is a very strong person and I really enjoyed hearing him talk about his start. Thanks so much for checking out the post! ❤

I dunno, the lyrics are powerful either way. Great Music Monday post.
I heard the brand new Bob Seger album, I Knew You When, and it’s incredible. He wrote it as a tribute to his dear friend, Glenn Frey, who passed away. It’s a must-listen and own in my view.

I know, it’s really heavy when he gets into it, but I feel like he portrays the type of human that would do these things fairly well. He’s a good actor too, IMHO. ❤
Bob Seger is AMAZING. Night Moves, Turn the Page, Against the Wind, Still the Same, Sunspot Baby–so many faves. I was introduced to him as a child because my mom listened to him. I haven't heard the new album and I'm heading to check it out now. Thanks for bringing that to my attention! ❤

You’d love it then for sure. We love Seger and the song he wrote for Frey made us tear up a little. It’s our pleasure for letting you know. We love music and share our favorites.

I’ve never heard this before, it’s pretty cool. I think either of those meanings could work, great thing about songs, it’s the great thing about music isn’t it? So open to interpretation.

I just found your comment in spam, Claire. Sorry I’m late responding. ❤ Spam has been a huge issue this week for whatever reason, lol.
So true about interpretation. 🙂 I tend to analyze I guess because it's fun. 🙂 Hope you are feeling better and chat soon!

Thanks, Deanna! I think it was released in 1994 or so. 💖 Glad you enjoyed it.

This must be what addiction sounds like, the dialog between it and you. The lies it tells, and you believe, because it makes you feel so good. When you come to your senses, you start to walk and it convinces you, just one more time and we’ll go our separate ways. But, it never ends.
Actually, this is what sleep does to me and the lies it tells me about the alarm clock.

I first saw this music video on Beavis and Butthead. From what I recall, Beavis was really into the song.

Yes! I actually think that was one of the things that made the song so popular. ❤ Good times. 😀
