-Music Monday-
This meme was created by Drew @ The Tattooed Book Geek. You pick a song that you really like and share it on Monday!
Today’s Music Monday shares Megadeth, a band I’ve loved since I was a young child. I have many pics to share for subsequent Megadeth Music Monday’s, but today I’ll share one of my old concert ticket photos from 1992. It’s hard to believe this was 26 years ago because it feels like yesterday. Good times!
During this time, “Symphony of Destruction” was #1 for like 9 weeks straight on our main rock station The Blaze 103.5 out of Chicago which had the top ‘8 at 8’ every evening.
Megadeth
“Symphony of Destruction”
Lyrics:
You take a mortal man
And put him in control
Watch him become a god
Watch people’s heads a’roll
A’roll, a’ roll
Just like the Pied Piper
Led rats through the streets
We dance like marionettes
Swaying to the symphony
Of destruction
Acting like a robot
Its metal brain corrodes
You try to take its pulse
Before the head explodes
Explodes, explodes
Just like the Pied Piper
Led rats through the streets
We dance like marionettes
Swaying to the symphony
Just like the Pied Piper
Led rats through the streets
We dance like marionettes
Swaying to the symphony
Swaying to the symphony
Of destruction
The earth starts to rumble
World powers fall
A’warring for the heavens
A peaceful man stands tall
Tall, tall
Just like the Pied Piper
Led rats through the streets
We dance like marionettes
Swaying to the symphony
Just like the Pied Piper
Led rats through the streets
We dance like marionettes
Swaying to the symphony
Swaying to the symphony
Of destruction
I don’t remember this. Probably because I was spending a lot of time with my baby son. But, it’s a pretty cool song!

Yeah it was a big one! I guess it just depends on what sort of radio stations you had too. Like for us, we really had one main rock station and then one true alternative station. Plus I was huge into Headbangers Ball on MTV when MTV was still good lol. 🙂 So it was on a lot. Great memories! Glad you enjoyed. ❤ Take care, David. 🙂

Great post! I wish I had thought to save things like concert tickets and such from my pre-mom days. Thanks for the memories…

Thanks, Bonnie. The pre-mom days–I love the way you say that because that’s exactly what these days were! Good times. 🙂 Thanks for checking out the post and Happy Monday! ❤

Ha ha! I love this song. I saw Megadeth a couple of times in the eighties (yep, old) and they always rocked the house.

That had to be awesome! The older Megadeth songs are my total favorites. “Peace Sells” and “Holy Wars”! I have to share those next month. 😉 Glad you liked this one, Michael. Thanks for sharing your experience! ❤

I can still remember your entire closet in high school was filled with t-shirts from your hard rock days. I must say though, you’ve stayed true to your music Jen. Great post! ( I actually watched and listened to the entire video ) 🙂

I love Megadeth! Never seen them live however 😞. Last time they came to my city, they had a free concert. I was all hyped to go, but at the end I was unable to go due to problems and my heart broke into a million pieces. Out if the Big 4 bands, I’ve seen, so far, Slayer and Anthrax. Metallica scheduled a concert here, which sold out (like them 😝) in 20 minutes. I would like to see Metallica, but I’m not about to pay $300+ on general admission tickets for Metallica. I have a funny story about them BTW; one time I called them hoodrats, jokingly, on Twitter and they reported me and I was in Twitter jail (yes, there’s a Twitter jail). But I really hope that Megadeth decides to come back over here.

Aww! That stinks you couldn’t make it. They put on an amazing show! Metallica too. I’ll be sharing some Metallica soon as well. Of course, back then concert tickets were like $16 on up to $40. Cheap! I haven’t been to a concert in years, but $300, that’s insane especially for GA! I hope to go again though. I’d love to see Smashing Pumpkins again and they are around here often. I’m still kicking myself for not seeing Soundgarden last tour and now with Chris gone… 😦
That’s funny about Twitter. I had no idea there was a Twitter jail. LOL 😀 Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I appreciate it. Take care! ❤
