My Pet Tag: Cynder

I found this tag that Jessica Rachow did on her blog and thought it was so cute! If you haven’t checked out her blog yet, please do. You can meet her beautiful pup Cheyenne! I dis this tag for Bowie already and you can see it by clicking here. Today, I thought I’d talk about Cynder.

1. What is your pets name?

Her name is Cynder Rae.

2. What kind of pet is it and what breed?

She’s a border collie pup.

3. How long have you had your pet friend?

Cynder was born on in January 2015 and we’ve had her since she was about 5 1/2 weeks old.

4. How did you get your pet?

We bought Cynder from a breeder. It was sort of a shady deal though. We were supposed to get her with registration papers. When we arrived at the meeting place (which was about an hour from our house) the man showed up with her, but he didn’t have her papers. I was sort of bummed, but once we saw her, we fell in love and didn’t really care. He ended up giving us a discount and I was happy with that. Looking back now I’m so glad we didn’t decide differently. She’s been the biggest blessing to our family.

5. How old is your pet?

She’s 3 years old.

6. What are some quirky things about your pets personality?

Cynder is amazingly smart! She can turn on the water when she wants a drink, open doors, and understands sentences. When she wants attention, she knows exactly how to get it. It’s amazing the life lessons she’s taught me.

She never stops herding my younger children (the sheep), and she’s been such a great mom. She just had her second and last litter of 8 puppies and was such a pro. She also likes to swim in our pool.

She went through a period of digging holes all over outside, but when we reprimanded her for it, she seemed to understand she shouldn’t be doing it. It didn’t take long for her to stop. She also used to take our shoes out far from the house and leave them. We’d go nuts trying to find them.

Cynder and her crimes

She loves water, but hates taking baths…

She’s always been pretty fearless…

7. What does your relationship with your pet mean to you?

I’ll say the same thing I mentioned on Bowie’s post– they mean everything. We love all of our pets and I don’t know what I’d do without them. Each one is unique in their own way and they’ve all taught me so much.

8. What are some of your favorite past times with your pet?

Since she was a puppy, she loves the snow! I guess all dogs do, but I just love when we have our first snow of the season and the way she just takes off and scoops the snow into her mouth.

We love to play frisbee and ball because Cynder could actually run all day long 365/24/7. She’s nonstop and loves her freedom. In fact, we once thought we lost her. You can read that post by clicking here if you’d like.

We also love training her to do new tricks. She started learning numbers with jumping last year and I hope to continue with that.

9. What are nicknames that you call your pet?

We call her many names. My husband calls her Cyns and my main name for her is Rae which is her middle name. My kids sometimes call her Cynday. I also tell her she’s my Rae of sunshine because that’s one of my favorite songs and I modified it just for her…

Rae is my sunshine, my only sunshine
Rae make’s me happy when skies are gray
You’ll never know Rae, how much I love you
Please don’t take my Rae Rae away

Thanks for checking out this tag. There are many pets out there I’d like to know more about, but I won’t tag anyone this time around. If you’d like to talk about one of your pets, please feel free to do this tag and please link back to me so I can read your post!

        2. Thank you! I definitely will! It has to do with my son if that gives you any idea after our last talk. Ugh! Teenagers!! You too!! I’m not too bad otherwise except apparently I’ve hurt my other rotator cuff, so that is both shoulders and the Dr wants to do surgery. I’m going to do physical therapy first. I’m no fan of surgery! Talk soon! 💖💖💖

        3. Aww, darn! Yes we can chat about that later. So sorry to hear it. I wouldn’t want surgery either but if you need it you need it right? I hope the therapy does the job. Let me know how things are going. Big hugs! 💖💜💖😙

Cynder is so special! When I leave the bedroom door open she comes in and cuddles and sleeps with her head on the pillow. Such a cute freckled face sweety! 🐕❤️ Very nice tag post!

  2. She is a beautiful dog. When we got our dog the breeder told us up front we wouldn’t get papered. He didn’t want us to breed him. I agree, pets are part of the family, fur babies. Such great pictures, especially the ones in the snow.

    1. Thanks, Carla. 💜 I have seen people do that which is what happened with our male, but we really weren’t worried about it either. They’re such a blessing! Thanks for checking out the post and sharing your thoughts. 😁

Cynder cutie pie! I don’t blame you for taking her anyway even though the deal was shady. There’s no way I’d say no to that face either! Thanks for sharing another one of your pets with us! 🙂

  4. I’m attached to the pictures of your dogs so I can imagine your attachment as their owner. The all remind me of our Lucy who is no longer with us but she was a Border Collie too so I get really excited when you do puppy posts. 🙂

    1. Thank you for your kind words, Carrie. Really sorry to hear about Lucy. I remember you mentioning her before. I hope to do a post on the babies soon. It’s about time for homes already. Time flies. 💖💜💖 Take care and thanks for checking out Cynder’s post. 😊🐶

      1. It does seem like the puppies were just born, time just seems to fly by faster the older I get. LOL I’ll definitely keep an eye out for more pics of the cuties before you have to find them new owners. 🙂

I have a BC, too. It’s amazing the things they know, understand, and learn. She remembers tricks I taught her 3 years ago that I don’t even remember myself. Border Collies should be considered a species altogether hahaha
