I discovered Flower Friday last year while visiting Lorilin@Bugbugbooks and have been having a blast sharing some flower pictures and information. Please check out Lorilin’s blog if you haven’t already for book reviews and more!
Today’s flower is the Daffodil!
This is an early perennial and one of the first flowers we see in spring where I live.
Other names for this plant are: jonquil, narcissus, and daffadowndilly.
I’m not going to lie, this is one of my least favorite flowers. I guess its because yellow isn’t one of my favorite colors, but I’ve grown to appreciate these because they’re the first flowers in spring and they really are pretty. We have many just growing throughout the woods and they require little care.
- Scientific name: Narcissus
- Family: Amaryllidaceae
Genus: Narcissus; L.
- Origins: Southern Europe
- Blooms: Early spring
At Christmas, one of my children received this cute little unicorn garden set which included a few figures like a castle, a mushroom, butterfly, and unicorns. It came with a plastic bowl we really weren’t excited to use, so we decided to get a pot to and incorporate some real plants.
We broke the front of the pot (which didn’t go well because it’s a 16-inch pot and very thick), but we ended up using some epoxy to fix it up a bit. Then we just used the two large broken pieces to create levels so we could incorporate a staircase.
