Today, rather than finish out the month of May sharing Chris Cornell, I’m going to share an old favorite for Memorial Day. Here in the U.S. on the last Monday in May, we remember those who died fighting for our country and for our freedom. For some, Memorial Day is just a day off work, a long weekend, an outdoor BBQ, or the unofficial start of summer, but Memorial Day means so much more than that and we must remember. So, today I’d like to share this song for Music Monday to honor and remember those who gave all.

Billy Ray Cyrus

“Some Gave All”

Lyrics:

I knew a man called him Sandy Kane few folks even knew his name
But a hero yes was he
He left a boy came back a man still many just don’t understand
About the reasons we are free
I can’t forget the look in his eyes or the tears he cried
As he said these words to me

[Chorus:]
All gave some some gave all
Some stood through for the red white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me think of all your liberties
And recall some gave all

Now Sandy Kane is no longer here but his words are oh so clear
As they echo throughout our land
For all his friends who gave us all who stood the ground and took the fall
To help their fellow man
Love your country live with pride and don’t forget those who died
America can’t you see

[Chorus]

And if you ever think of me think of all your liberties
And recall yes recall some gave all some gave all

  1. What a wonderful tribute! I hadn’t heard that song before, so thank you for sharing it. I’m going to post it on my facebook page. I’m glad to know that Billy Ray did something other than Achy Breaky Heart. Wishing you and your family a wonderful day! ❤️

I appreciate those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Bless our veterans. Thanks to those who wear the uniforms of our armed forces.

This is so late but Happy belated Memorial Day. For some reason either you’re not posting a lot or posts aren’t showing up for me. Anyway, I can’t get behind Billy Ray Cyrus but I’m glad it’s an old favorite of yours and you’re right in reiterating that memorial day has a meaning outside of bbq and swimming and stuff.

    1. That’s WordPress for you! I actually commented back to you and my comment was never posted haha. It’s hard to rely on notifications anymore. I’ve just been typing in the actual blog URLs to see everyone’s stuff because I’m missing so many. Guess you’ll have that.

Hope your holiday was great too. Thanks so much for your comments and for checking out the post! ❤
