I decided to join in for the A to Z challenge this year which runs from April 1st to the 30th. I missed the theme reveal post, so my choice of theme is “Music from Favorite Films” where I’ll be sharing the songs in order of film title, and will write a little bit about my thoughts on the movie as well.

Today’s pick is from Adventures in Babysitting.
I’ve enjoyed this movie since I was a kid in 1987. The movie is set in the city of Chicago, and because I grew up in Chicagoland there’s a lot of nostalgia here.
In the movie Chris is stuck babysitting two kids when she’s really supposed to be out on a date with her boyfriend Mike; however, he comes up with a lame excuse that someone’s ill and cancels on her at the last minute. After arriving at the Anderson’s that evening to babysit, her friend Brenda calls her crying that she ran away from home (into the city) and now she’s in grave danger. Brenda begs Chris to come save her and so Chris ventures into the city with the kids, including one of their neighbor friends. After experiencing a flat tire, the evening quickly turns even more dramatic leaving them all in danger.
At one point in the movie, Chris and the kids are being chased and end up in a blue’s bar where they’re caught and forced to sing on stage. The song they sing is titled “Babysitting Blues”.
Lyrics:
Hi. ahem. Umm, My name’s Chris Parker.
I live in Oak Park, that’s a suburb.
They probably figured that out. huh
This is Brad, Sarah and Daryl and we’re in trouble.
Ain’t no doubt!
See me and my boyfriend Mike, tonight’s our anniversary.
But then he went and cancled and now i’m stuck watchin’ these three.
And it’s so hard…
And it’s sooo hard…
Babysittin’ these guys.
She’s got the……
I got this call from Brenda. I went to pick her up.
Tire had a blow out and my mom’s car got shot up.
And these guys started to chace us.
And we all got hijacked. huh
We were crusing down the highway,
In this big, ol’ Cadilaic.
And it’s so hard!
YEAH!
It’s so hard…
Babysittin’ these guys.
She got the…..Babyyyy sittin’ bules.
Baby, baby. Babysittin’ blues.
I’ve got the…Babyyyy sitting blues.
Well alright!
There’s nights….you swear you were born to lose. Like tonight.
And you wish your feet were walkin’ in someone elses shoes.
Some guys are out to get us.
And Brenda’s probably dead.
We ain’t got a nickle.
And they should be in bed. And you outta luck.
Outtaaa luck, watchin’ these guys.
I’ve got the….Babyyyy sitting blues.
Baby, baby.
Babyyyy sitting blues.
Baby, baby.
Babyyyy sitting bluuues.
There are nights….
You swear you were born to looose…yeah!
Like tonight.
And you wish your feet were walkin’ in someone elses shoes.
Some guy’s out to get ’em and the girl’s probably dead.
She ain’t got a nickle…
AND WE SHOULD BE IN BED!!!
And you outta luck.
Outta luck watchin’ these guys.
I’ve got the….Babyyyy sitting blues.
Baby, baby.
Babyyyy sitting blues.
Baby, baby.
Babyyyy sitting bluuues.

It is a good part, isn’t it? My personal favorite is when little Sara meets Dawson at the tire shop and thinks he’s Thor. 😂 Great movie! Thanks for checking it out.

I loved that, too, and I think that was how I learned who Thor even was!

How cool! Yeah, I actually grew up right outside Gary. I didn’t realize you were a Hoosier! 👍😉

Actually, not a hoosier. Retired, hubby and I moved to NWI to close to our son. Prior to that we had some traveling fun.

Happy first day of A-Z! I can’t remember if I’ve seen this movie or not. That’s rare for me. I love E. Shue but I think I better find a copy of this movie and watch it again. -Dragons & Spaceships

I have never seen this show. I babysat a baby once who slept the whole night, from when I arrived until they got home. I don’t think I ever saw the baby but I was worried I would wake her up if I checked on her. I would always fall asleep watching tv. It was the laxest job I ever had but I definitely felt guilty.

Very enjoyable write up. I haven’t seen Adventures in Babysitting in years, but I still retain a deep affection for it. I, too, grew up with this film, wearing and tearing my VHS copies till they ceased to function. You’ve inspired me to watch this one again, although I’m a little afraid a revisit might tarnish my love for it. Thanks for the memories. “Don’t f**k with the babysitter!”
