I discovered Flower Friday while visiting Lorilin@Bugbugbooks and decided to start sharing some flower pictures from our gardens along with some information about them. Please check out Lorilin’s blog if you haven’t already for book reviews and more!
2019 shares:
- Jerusalem Artichoke
- Hibiscus
- Tiger Lily
- The Zinnia and the Swallowtail
- Yarrow
- Wax Begonia
- Monarda
- Mountain Mint
- Spring Blooms
Today’s share:
Lavender Rhododendron
This is one that I definitely look forward to every year. The blossoms are very large and strikingly beautiful.
My favorite attribute is that the leaves stay a nice green all year round (even in winter) as it’s a woody, evergreen species.
I just wish the blooms lasted longer!
These are super easy to care for as long as they’re in well-drained soil. They require little care and come back every year.
Family: Ericaceae
Scientific name: Rhododendron
Width:4′
Height:4′
Fragrant: Yes
Zone: 5 – 8
Attract: Bees and Butterflies
Exposure: Partial Shade
Bloom Time: Spring
Thanks for checking out Flower Friday! What blooms are you enjoying this summer? Feel free to share.

The flowers are stunning! It is a shame they don’t last very long.

Thanks, Cathy. I think often about how nice it would be for perennial blooms to last longer! Have to enjoy them while you can. ❤

This flower has really gotten prettier over the years. I remember when the bush was so much smaller. It’s so beautiful when it blooms now. Nice to see you posting again Jen. 🌺💕

It has grown so much! Taller than the four feet average for sure. Thanks! 💜

Any particular reason moving from a dotcom to a wordpress site?

Because I’m not blogging very much and unsure of what I want to do in the near future, I downgraded to a free plan which seems to have been a mistake. Most of my links aren’t working. WP failed to tell me that this would happen. 😂

Bummer about the links! I certainly understand moving to the free side though. That’s why I’m still on just wordpress 🙂
I’ll keep in mind that links don’t migrate both ways if I ever decide to go dotcom…

Gorgeous!! ❤ I was so excited to do more of these Flower Friday posts again once the weather got nice again and I haven't done a single one yet. lol I'll have to do some soon. I always love seeing your flower posts. 🙂 Your Rhododendron are absolutely lovely. I have a pink one in my yard and I love it, too. I'm with ya on wishing the flowers lasted longer though! 😛
