I discovered Flower Friday while visiting Lorilin@Bugbugbooks and decided to begin sharing some flower pictures from our gardens along with some information about them. Please check out Lorilin’s blog if you haven’t already for book reviews and more!
Last time I shared One Interesting…One Beautiful: Daisy Fleabane and Pink Petunia. Here are other 2019 shares:
- Jerusalem Artichoke
- Hibiscus
- Tiger Lily
- The Zinnia and the Swallowtail
- Yarrow
- Wax Begonia
- Monarda
- Mountain Mint
- Spring Blooms
- Rhododendron
Today’s share:
Persian Carpet Zinnia:
These are new for me this year. I picked up the seeds from Baker Creek this spring.
The flowers are very small compared to other regular zinnias, or what I’m used to I should say. In the past we’ve gone with king varieties which are huge. With these, some are as small as an inch in diameter.
These are just starting to take off and I’m hopeful they’ll have many more blooms to come. It’s said that they should develop loads of flowers.
Some are solid while others are bi-colored. Like any other zinnia, these are incredibly simple to grow from seed. They also require little care. Overall, these turned out to be fun this year.
Fun fact: Did you know that the first zinnia flower bloomed in space January of 2016?

Thanks for checking out Flower Friday. Let me know what flowers you’re enjoying right now and of you’re growing any zinnias. Have a great weekend everyone.

Wow! So dainty and beautiful. I love zinnias and, as you already know Jen, it was one of grandmas favorite flowers.
That’s great to know about the space zinnia. Amazing! 🙂💕
