Music Monday-
This meme was created by Drew @ The Tattooed Book Geek. You pick a song that you really like and share it on Monday.
Last time I shared:
Blake Shelton’s “Sure Be Cool If You Did”
Today’s share:
Guns N’ Roses
“Don’t Cry”
This has always been a favorite song by GNR. Like “November Rain” and “Estranged”, it’s based on the story “Without You” from the book The Language of Fear by Del James.
I’ve read the book that contains multiple short stories, but unfortunately didn’t like it as much as I’d hoped.
Lyrics:
Talk to me softly
There’s something in your eyes
Don’t hang your head in sorrow
And please don’t cry
I know how you feel inside I’ve
I’ve been there before
Somethin’ is changin’ inside you
And don’t you know
Don’t you cry tonight
I still love you baby
Don’t you cry tonight
Don’t you cry tonight
There’s a heaven above you baby
And don’t you cry tonight
Give me a whisper
And give me a sigh
Give me a kiss before you
Tell me goodbye
Don’t you take it so hard now
And please don’t take it so bad
I’ll still be thinkin’ of you
And the times we had… baby
And don’t you cry tonight
Don’t you cry tonight
Don’t you cry tonight
There’s a heaven above you baby
And don’t you cry tonight
And please remember that I never lied
And please remember
How I felt inside now honey
You gotta make it your own way
But you’ll be alright now sugar
You’ll feel better tomorrow
Come the morning light now baby
And don’t you cry tonight
And don’t you cry tonight
And don’t you cry tonight
There’s a heaven above you baby
And don’t you cry
Don’t you ever cry
Don’t you cry tonight
Baby maybe someday
Don’t you cry
Don’t you ever cry
Don’t you cry
Tonight

Thanks for checking out Music Monday! Have a fantastic week!

I did not know this was based on a short story. I enjoyed the video, it gave the lyrics so much perspective. My son and husband were big Guns ‘n Roses fans, so I had heard this song many time, but never really paid attention to the lyrics. Great share Jen.

I’m glad you like the song too, Carla. I really wanted to love the book, but it was painful to read at times and just not for me. I think I still gave it 3-stars or so. Have a great week! ❤

Okay – don’t throw anything at me or ban me from your blog, but I’ve never been a GNR fan, with the exception of November Rain.

Lol 😂 I enjoy GNR, but I don’t love every song, so I know what you mean. Besides this one I probably have like 15-20 favorite songs by them like Patience, November Rain, Yesterdays, and their version of Knockin on Heaven’s Door.
If you like November Rain, definitely check out these two videos because they sort of tie together.

Love the song, love the video! It was so epic at the time! I miss the big over the top rock ballads and I’ve always loved G n’ R

I have to admit I loved November Rain too but this video is really extreme. I like the lyrics. Great post!

Glad you like the lyrics. I believe all three songs were based on the short story and about a relationship. Thanks for checking it out! 😊

I didn’t know about the book/short story inspiration either, M, or if I did, I had forgotten. I loved this song and really loved GnR, though I’ve probably told you this already, my late brother loved them most of all and I have so many memories of him tied to this band. Thank you so much for bringing them back to my mind. ♥️

I don’t remember you mentioning your brother, Jen, although I have horrible brain fog. I’d like to hear more about that if you ever want to chat about it. This must being back a lot of memories for you. Hugs xoxo 🧡💛🧡
