Today’s share:
Sawyer Brown “The Walk”
I just finished the third book in The Noel Collection series by Richard Paul Evans. In the book, one of the main characters spent time in the Vietnam War which jogged my memory for today’s song. Ironically, Richard Paul Evans also wrote The Walk Series which has no connection, but it shares the same title for today’s song as well. Anyway…this is one of my favorites. I forgot how much impact this video had on me the first time I watched it in the early 90s. Hope you enjoy.
Lyrics:
Down our long dusty driveway
I didn’t want to go
But I set out with tears in my eyes wondering
Daddy took me by the hand
Looked out at the school bus and his little man and said
“Don’t worry boy it will be all right”
[CHORUS:]
Cause I took this walk you’re walking now
Boy, I’ve been in your shoes
You can’t hold back the hands of time
It’s just something you’ve got to do
So dry your eyes I understand just what you’re going through
Cause I took this same walk with my old man
Boy, I’ve been in your shoes
Down our long dusty driveway
I set my mind to go
I was eighteen and wild and free and wondering
Daddy took me by the hand
Looked at the world and at his grown man and said,
“Don’t worry boy it will be all right”
Down our long dusty driveway
This time we both would go
He had grown old and gray
And his mind was wandering
Daddy took me by the hand
Said, “I know where we’re going and I understand
Don’t worry boy it will be all right”
[CHORUS]

Awesome share Jen! I can vividly remember the entire time your uncle Mike was in Vietnam and how my mom and dad just weren’t themselves.
And it’s so true, ‘you can’t hold back the hands of time’. 👌💕

Wow, I can only imagine how hard that must’ve been. Something never experienced for me because I wasn’t born yet. I knew you’d like this one. ♥️

Gosh, this took me right back to the 90s, too, M, and I LOVED this one. I just got all teary. I saw Sawyer Brown in concert with Alabama my senior year in high school. I actually got to meet the lead singer and he signed a Sawyer Brown license plate for me! I went right up to their tour bus. 😂 I went to Alabama bus, too, but I can’t remember if I had anything signed. How sad that I can’t remember?! But I loved Sawyer more! I have no idea where that is now, though. Diamond Rio and John Michael Montgomery were also there, as was someone I was obsessed with at the time- Clay Walker! And I am so out of touch with country, I thought that Clay was no longer singing due to the MS diagnosis. That was over 20 years ago!
So I just saw that Alabama is touring for 50 years now- crazy, and guess what that means? I am pretty certain the tour I saw was their 25th anniversary! Thanks for the memories, M!
Are/were you a Hootie fan? I had to get the new album. Cracked Rear View saw me through my senior year of high school and right into college. The new one is GOOD!

Whoa! That is so awesome, Jen! How lucky. I would’ve loved to meet him and all the others. I’m not a huge country fan, but I’ve always loved their songs. Alabama too!
I used to love Hootie and listen to Darius Rucker’s country music now. I’m so selective with country! 😂 Have you listened to him? He’s one amazing country singer. I saw one of the new Hootie songs on Jimmy Kimmel, but haven’t listened to the whole album.
Thanks for sharing your memories, Jen. I’m glad glad you’re a Sawyer Brown fan too. Of all the concerts I went to, the only thing I ever had signed was a Jackyl t-shirt in ’92. 😂 Maybe I’ll share that one next Monday. ♥️♥️♥️
