Vaults
“Cry No More”
Over the weekend I finished Fable by Adrienne Young, which I absolutely adored. If you’d like to see my thoughts on it, you can read my review here. The author shared a playlist on Spotify of the songs she listened to while writing the book. Listening to it actually transported me back to the story like magic. For today’s Music Monday, I thought I’d share a favorite from this playlist. Viewer discretion: the video involves a shooting.
Lyrics:
In heavy air I feel it creep
And our eyes can’t meet
A poison word that you chose
And the distance grows
And I don’t wanna cry no more
And I don’t wanna die a little more every day
And I don’t wanna cry no more
And I don’t wanna die a little more every day
To pull yourself from harm
To be the braver one
To raise a weary hand
In a house that’s built on sand
To wear it like a crown
To kick before you drown
To fight it and to cry no more
Will I be the warrior?
Or will the axe shine clean?
Steely eyed, your blood’ll burn
I will save our lives
And I don’t wanna cry no more
And I don’t wanna die a little more every day
And I don’t wanna cry no more
And I don’t wanna die a little more every day
To pull yourself from harm
To be the braver one
To raise a weary hand
In a house that’s built on sand
To wear it like a crown
To kick before you drown
To fight it and to cry no more
Cry no more
I don’t wanna die a little more every day
I don’t wanna cry no more
I don’t wanna die a little more every day

Here’s what I downloaded and made a CD to play in my car when I’m driving: I turn the volume ALL THE WAY UP!:
1. Lord Huron: The Night we Met (lyrics in closed captioning:)
2. Alan Walker and Sophia Somajo: Diamond Heart:
3. OAR: Turn the car around
Have a great Monday!

I liked the singing and music. The video is creepy being resurrected and all. Very artistic. I’ve been listening to “Shade” from the Frogstomp album by Silverchair.

Wow, I didn’t know it was on cassette. I have the CD. Also, check out the Avett Brothers. I thought of “No Hard Feelings” when I read your book reviews mea culpa.

Very different. I like the outcome. The lyrics have a lot to say about life.

They do, don’t they? I wasn’t keen on the video because it was sort of creepy, but it’s so powerful. Thanks!
