“Back in the High Life Again”

It seems safe to say that we are entering the post-pandemic phase of Covid-19. I’ve been thinking about how liberated I feel now being fully vaxxed up myself. Two more of my kids will get theirs this week, and finally, I’m seeing the light.

I was driving to pick up flowers last week and this song came on the radio. To me, this is the quintessential post-pandemic song because it sums up exactly this new phase we’re entering. Doors will open, people will have joy in their faces again, and we’ll be back in the high life again. Hope you enjoy it.

Lyrics:

It used to seem to me
That my life ran on too fast
And I had to take it slowly
Just to make the good parts last
But when you’re born to run
It’s so hard to just slow down
So don’t be surprised to see me
Back in that bright part of town

I’ll be back in the high life again
All the doors I closed one time will open up again
I’ll be back in the high life again
All the eyes that watched me once will smile and take me in

And I’ll drink and dance with one hand free
Let the world back into me
And on I’ll be a sight to see
Back in the high life again

You used to be the best
To make life be life to me
And I hope that you’re still out there
And you’re like you used to be
We’ll have ourselves a time
And we’ll dance ’til the morning sun
And we’ll let the good times come in
And we won’t stop ’til we’re done

We’ll be back in the high life again
All the doors I closed one time will open up again
We’ll be back in the high life again
All the eyes that watched us once will smile and take us in
And we’ll drink and dance with one hand free
And have the world so easily
And oh we’ll be a sight to see
Back in the high life again

We’ll be back in the high life again
All the doors I closed one time will open up again
We’ll be back in the high life again
All the eyes that watched us once will smile and take us in
And we’ll drink and dance with one hand free
And have the world so easily
And oh we’ll be a sight to see
Back in the high life again

Welcome and hope you’re well. Gosh, I would love to hear Steve live. Finally got the Covid vaccine on Friday. Crossing my fingers but no side effects at this point.

        1. I’m doing great, David. Thanks for asking. Glad you received your vaccine too! I had horrible aches/flu-like symptoms after my second shot (12 hours after), and my oldest son was the same. I would hope you’re past that window now!

Seeing him live would be such an amazing experience. He sounds excellent to this day, IMO. Have a great week, David. 😀

        1. So true! I felt like I was doing well, but once 2021 came and vaccinations started, it was such a liberating feeling. It was then that I realized the pandemic affected me mentally and brought on many new stressors. My hope is that we all learned something from this and that we’ll be better prepared for the next one (if it comes).

    1. Yeah! I love that too. That’s what originally grabbed me because he uses ‘we’ and it just made me think of everything we’ve been through with this pandemic and how many of us are feeling this exact way right now. Glad you enjoyed it!

    1. Hi, Teagan! I’ve definitely noticed the harmonies. It’s one of my favorite things about the song. Takes me back. 😉 Thanks for checking it out, and glad you love the song too. Take care.
