I’m sharing Christmas music this month! Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without Perry Como in my house. All my admiration for classic Christmas music stemmed from my grandparents who played Christmas records over the holidays as I was growing up. My grandfather would sing all the time. When listening to these records, it’s like they’re still here with me. Continue reading “Music Monday: The Perry Como Christmas Album #MusicMonday #ChristmasSongs #Christmas #PerryComo”

Music Monday: Scott Weiland “Winter Wonderland” #MusicMonday #Christmas

It’s Christmastime again folks, and I’m so excited! I shared some Christmas tunes last year and I’ll do it again this month as well. This is my favorite time of year. I’ll admit, I was a little down this morning when WordPress informed me that they won’t be offering falling snow on our blogs this year. Ugh! Seriously? 😧😫😭 Not sure who made that decision, but phooey on them!

So…

When Scott Weiland came out with a handful of classic Christmas songs, I was so excited. I couldn’t believe it and fell in love with the whole album. For those of you who aren’t sure who Scott Weiland is, he was the lead singer and lyricist of Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver, and a few other bands. He was also a solo artist. If you were listening to the radio a lot in the 90’s, you might still remember Stone Temple Pilot’s “Plush”, “Interstate Love Song”, or “Creep” which are still played today. I thought I’d post a few favorites for the Halloween season. Hope you enjoy! 🎃

Michael Jackson

“Thriller”

I posted “Thriller” last year, but how can you ever get tired of this! I can still remember the first time I saw it on MTV as a child. It still captivates me and this remains my favorite Michael Jackson album of all time. There’s a story here and if you watch the entire video, you’ll see some phenomenal dancing.

Music Monday: Pink Floyd “On The Turning Away”

This is one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs. I love this whole album and can still remember the first time I heard it on my brother’s stereo as a child. “On The Turning Away” came out in 1987. It’s relevant today and throughout all history. There are multiple videos that have been created by people using this song highlighting war, terrorism, and immigration. This may be a tad heavy for a Monday and I could go on and on about it, but instead I’ll just share this video.

I just about died laughing when I saw one of my favorite Talking Head’s videos transformed into a Donald Trump version by Swedemason on YouTube. It’s just plain fun. Hope you like it too.

Summer’s leaving and fall’s creeping in. I appreciate the cooler temps, but summer seemed to go by so quickly this year. I ❤ fall and winter, but I’m not sure I’m ready for those darker days yet!

I thought I’d share this song I really enjoy with a summery video. Hope you enjoy…

I shared “You Worry Me” a few Music Monday’s ago and honestly can’t say enough about this entire album. It’s the first album I’ve purchased in a long time that I can listen to from beginning to end and love every tune.

Occasionally I get hit with anxiety and depression and it really kicks me down. The scariest thing is not knowing how long it’s going to last or how I’ll get through it again. The goal is to fight it and get back to living as quickly as I can. I feel that music is an integral part of mental healing (for me). Here are four songs (and albums) that helped me tremendously in this last few weeks in no particular order.

This week I chose a few songs from the movie “Blue Crush” with Kate Bosworth and the ever so awesome Michelle Rodriguez. In the movie, Anne Marie (Bosworth) is living with a few roommates and her younger sister who she’s responsible for. Anne Marie has plans to surf in the Rip Masters surf competition, but she has some underlying fears she’s dealing with. Then she meets Mat, a professional quarterback and begins to lose track. Between work, making rent, keeping her sister in school, training, and a new romance, she struggles to stay the course.

I love the cast and there are real-life professional women surfers in it. The movie’s always been a favorite and these songs remind me of the beach and summer which we’re in the middle of right now.

I just finished reading Broken Music by Sting and I’ll share my review later for that. I’ve been a Police fan since I was a young child and Sting is still a favorite artist today. Here are two favorites that go way back to my childhood, back to when sitting in front of MTV was all I wanted to do. Not only are these favorite songs, but favorite music videos as well.

Today’s share is a song by Metallica. This is one of my favorite Metallica instrumentals and gives me a chance to talk about two of my favorite bassists of all time. It’s one that Jason Newsted (former bassist) performed in, and the last Metallica song that Cliff Burton (bassist of Metallica before Newsted) was credited for. Cliff died on my 9th birthday. That day, he was in a tragic bus accident and perished at the young age of 24.

Today, rather than finish out the month of May sharing Chris Cornell, I’m going to share an old favorite for Memorial Day. Here in the U.S. on the last Monday in May, we remember those who died fighting for our country and for our freedom. For some, Memorial Day is just a day off work, a long weekend, an outdoor BBQ, or the unofficial start of summer, but Memorial Day means so much more than that and we must remember. So, today I’d like to share this song for Music Monday to honor and remember those who gave all.

From May 7th: When I first started this blog, one of my intentions was to talk about music as much as possible, hence my blog name. 🙂 My very first music blog post from March 2017 featured Mad Season, a band that eventually included Chris Cornell and the next, Temple of the Dog. It felt great to talk about some of the music I’ve always loved. Little did I know, just a few months later he’d be gone like so many others before him.

I’m not one of those people who usually count dates or add up the time since someone has been gone, yet here I am doing it with Chris. It’s been a year this month and I can’t believe the time has flown. For the whole month of May–to honor Chris–I’ll be sharing some of my favorite Chris Cornell songs.

On Friday, which marked one year since Chris’s passing, I shared “Live To Rise” by Soundgarden. If you’d like to see that post you can click here.

Today’s Music Monday shares Megadeth, a band I’ve loved since I was a young child.
