Day 3 – Quote
Rather than choose a book quote today, I thought I would end the final day of quotes with an excerpt from one of my favorite movies. I just finished reading The Hobbit and loved it so much, but I was surprised to learn that Tauriel wasn’t in it. I’m one of those who watched the movies first and then read the book along with my 9-year-old. Regardless, I love her addition to the movie and honestly was totally bummed that she wasn’t in the book. Watching the banter between her and Kili, and then the growth of the whole connection were some of the best moments in the movie for me.
“If this is love, I do not want it. Take it away, please. Why does it hurt so much?” – Tauriel
“Because it was real.” – Thranduil
This tag turned out to be a favorite! I hope to get re-tagged for this in the future, haha. 😀 I hope everyone who chooses to do it enjoys it as much as I did. Feel free to share comments below if you’d like. 🙂 – Mischenko

I found this tag that Jessica Rachow did on her blog and thought it was so cute! If you haven’t checked out her blog yet, please do. You can meet her beautiful pup Cheyenne! I dis this tag for Bowie already and you can see it by clicking here. Today, I thought I’d talk about Cynder.
I was tagged by Priyasha @ Books and Co. for the Reader Confession Tag. I’m sure most of you have already checked out Priyasha’s amazing blog, but if you haven’t, be sure to!
I haven’t done a tag in a very long time, so I’m looking forward to this one. Thank you, Priyasha, for tagging me and sorry it took so long!
I don’t see any rules. Yes!
Hello, everyone! Hope you’re all doing well this week. I was recently tagged for the “Amazon’s 100 Books to Read in a Lifetime” Tag by my sweet friend, Noriko@Diary of a Bookfiend. I’d like to say thank you for tagging me for this. Please be sure to check out her blog if you haven’t already for awesome bookish posts and amazing book reviews!
This is certainly a fun tag to see what you have and haven’t read. I’ve seen a lot of these lists online including Goodreads and there are so many I have to catch up on!
- Include the link to Amazon’s List
- Tag the creator of the meme (Perfectly Tolerable)
- Tag and thank the Person that tagged you
- Copy the list below and indicate which ones you have read
- Tally up your total
- Comment on the post you were tagged in and let them know how many you read
- Tag 5 new people! (And comment on one of their posts to let them know you tagged them)
I was recently tagged by Hadeer@Hadeerwrites for this 2017 Scrapbook Tag. I’d like to thank her for tagging me! Please check out her blog if you haven’t yet for book reviews, tags, awards, TV show posts, theatre, and more!
This tag was very hard for me–even though it’s just a matter of grabbing your favorites in 2017. It requires narrowing down to a few favorites versus hundreds and it’s always difficult for me to pick just a few. A few of these are not ‘current’ in 2017, but here are some that I enjoyed in 2017.
I was tagged a very long time ago for this super fun Currently Reading Book Tag by Noriko@Diaryofabookfiend. I have to apologize for my tardiness on this one! I’m just getting caught up on book tags. I’d like to thank Noriko for tagging me. Noriko is a wonderful friend with an amazing blog. She writes beautiful book reviews and I’m always interested in what she has to say! Please check out her blog if you haven’t already. I feel blessed to know her. ❤
The original creator of this tag is Charly Reynhorse and you can see it here.
How many books do you usually read at once?
I’m used to reading four books or more at a time. Right now, I’m reading eight, but two are cookbooks, two children’s, and one is my Orthodox Study Bible which will probably take me two years to read. If I’m reading a book with tons of characters or maybe an in depth fantasy, I really prefer to finish that type of book alone to avoid confusion. Sometimes, a book is so good, that I simply can’t stop reading it. When that happens I don’t read anything else alongside it because I obviously can’t put it down! 😉
If you are reading more than one book at a time, how do you decide when to switch books?
I sort of have some attention deficit when it comes to reading. If a book isn’t captivating or interesting to me, I’ll switch to something else. Sometimes, I just put it back on the shelf and start something completely different. I’ve discovered this year that I’m more of a mood reader that I thought and that’s okay.
Do you ever switch bookmarks while you are partway through a book?
Yes! Sometimes, I just grab whatever I have nearby. It might be a piece of mail, my phone, or another book. A lot of times, I just turn it upside down until I can get back to it.
Where do you keep the book(s) you are currently reading?
All over the house. Wherever I set it down is where it stays. The only thing I have to be careful with is not putting the books where Bowie (puppy) can get them. She’s in the chewing stage and her dad has eaten a few of my books before! Just check out my first “Lessons from Grandpa” post. Aggressive chewers!
What time of day do you spend the most time reading?
It depends. During Christmas break (now) I’m reading a lot during the days because I have more time available. During the school year, I read more at night. In the summer, I also read more at night. My favorite time to read is right before bed because it helps me relax and fall asleep.
How long do you typically read in one setting?
It just depends on what I’m reading and when. If the book is awesome, I might not stop reading until I finish it. Sometimes chores interrupt my reading and I’ll read bits throughout the day. Real life is the huge determiner.
Do you read hardbacks with the dust jacket on or off?
I never remove the dust jackets. I don’t know why, I just don’t. I will say, I’m always super careful with my books because a torn dust jacket is a pet peeve of mine.
What position do you mainly use to read?
I really enjoy reading in bed, but I also have a very comfortable chair in my bedroom where I like to read. If I’m reading there or on the couch, I usually sit with my legs up on an ottoman or sometimes up on the chair. Here are my favorites…
Do you take the book you are currently reading with you everywhere?
If it’s a physical book, yes. If it’s an eBook, no. My tablet is sort of large with a bulky case on it for protection and I don’t like to carry it everywhere. With Audible, it’s always with me on my phone, which is why I love it so much. I dont like reading eBooks on my phone much.
How often do you update your Goodreads progress on the book you’re currently reading?
All the time. Every time I stop and put the book down, I update my progress.
I was tagged by Claire @ BrizzleLassBooks for the Anything But Books Tag. This is such a fun tag! If you haven’t been to Claire’s blog yet, please check it out. There’s always something interesting, great posts, and plenty of books to learn about on her blog. Thanks for tagging me, Claire. ❤
Here are the questions:
Name a cartoon that you love.
It’s hard to pick one, but Dungeons & Dragons was always a favorite and still is…
What is your favorite song right now?
What could you do for hours that isn’t reading?
I could listen to music for hours and do it often. Music is an escape for me and I honestly don’t know what I would do without it.
What is something that you love to do that your followers would be surprised by?
I love to crochet and knit! I became obsessed with making Claire’s cowl from Outlander and started making them for everyone a few years ago. It was fun! Here’s a picture of one below.
What is your favorite, unnecessarily specific thing to learn about?
I love learning about everything, but I think my most favorite thing to learn about are people and their life stories. I love reading memoirs and learning about people’s experiences in life.
What is something unusual you know how to do?
Hmm, I don’t think I really know how to do anything unusual, but I did do something a little unusual once which was debarking over 100 locust tree fence posts for our horse fence with a really old draw shave hand tool. Is that unusual? 😀
Name something that you’ve made in the last year
I made this really neat hat that’s crocheted, but it looks like it’s knitted. It’s super thick and I want to make one for myself now. I used this incredibly soft merino yarn and it’s nice and stretchy.
What is your most recent personal project?
Right now as I type this post my family and I are in the process of purging our house of all things that we don’t necessarily need. I’m quite the collector, and because I sell vintage items online, I have way too much stuff and it’s gotten out of hand. I’m really looking forward to having everything cleaned up and tidy by the New Year. That’s the goal!
Tell us something that you think of often.
I think about the future way too often. I tend to be a worrier and wonder often what the future holds for my family, health, life–pretty much everything under the sun. I think I’m getting better though and this is something I hope to completely change in 2018–to try and live one day at a time without wondering about what might come about in my future. Life is way to short to worry, but when you’ve been doing it most of your life, it’s a hard habit to break!
Tell us something that’s your favorite, but make it oddly specific.
I love my Doc Marten patent leather boots. I wear them everywhere. I had a pair of these when I was a teen and went for over a decade without having a pair in my wardrobe. I seriously can’t live with out them. They lace up perfectly, fit comfortably, and they are undoubtedly my favorite boot EVER!
I found this tag that Jessica Rachow did on her blog and thought it was so cute! If you haven’t checked out her blog yet, please do. You can meet her beautiful pup Cheyenne!
1. What is your pets name?
Her name is Bowie.
2. What kind of pet is it and what breed?
She’s a border collie puppy.
3. How long have you had your pet friend?
Bowie was born on September 12th, 2017. So, about 11 weeks.
4. How did you get your pet?
Bowie was born from Cynder and Winston’s first litter.
5. How old is your pet?
She’s about 11 weeks old.
6. What are some quirky things about your pets personality?
She’s your typical pup I suppose. If she gets into the bathrooms, she’ll snag the toilet paper and shred it all over the house. She’s already stolen ornaments off the Christmas tree too. A cute thing she does is steal Winston’ s bone or even his toys. He doesn’t like to share and it’s taking him forever to get used to her. She’s really smart and runs the toys into our bedroom under the bed where the big dogs won’t go.
-She tries to jump on the couch repeatedly and flips herself upside down in the process.
-She gets zoomies after her baths and runs all over the house.
-When I ask her to sit for her treat, she sits, but after I give her a treat she slides to the ground because she’s fairly lazy like Winston.
7. What does your relationship with your pet mean to you?
Everything. We love all of our pets and I don’t know what I’d do without them. Each one is unique in their own way and they all amaze me.
8. What are some of your favorite past times with your pet?
-Every morning after she’s gone outside we head into our mudroom to let her eat. She’s so silly. She’ll do tricks for morsels of food even though there’s a whole bowl of food sitting there.
-We love taking them on runs too. I like to jog outside and it’s fun letting her run alongside me. She’s pretty good about staying with me.
9. What are nicknames that you call your pet?
It seems like everyone in the house has their own name for her. I call her Bo, Bo’s, and Bowie. Yesterday I called her Bobo which was weird. My husband calls her Bowsters. My kids call her BowieBowieBowie. She has many variations!
There are so many pets I’d like to get to know. I’m going to go ahead and tag some people, but don’t feel pressured to do the tag if you don’t want to. I’ll be honest and say I have the worst brain fog and I bet I’m forgetting someone which is never my intention. So, if you want to do this tag, please do! You are tagged. I would love to know more about your pet.
Thanks for checking out this tag. Do you have anything you’d like to share about your pets? Please feel free to leave comments below. ❤
I was tagged by Alex@Coffeelovingbookoholic for The End of the Year Book Tag last month. I’d like to thank Alex for the tag and please check out her blog! She has many book reviews, tags, awards, beautiful Bookstagram photos, and more!
Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?
Yes. I need to finish The Cottingley Secret. I picked this book up and started reading it, but I lost interest. It didn’t have anything to do with the book, I think I just picked it up at the wrong time. I still plan on having it read by the end of the year.
Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?
Well, these aren’t really autumnal, but I am reading the Harry Potter series which will take me to the end of the year or longer to read. I’m listening on Audible, but I may transition into some of the physical books. I really want to read the new illustrated editions too.
Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?
I was waiting for The Wife Between Us, but then I got approved for it on NetGalley.
What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?
Hmm, only three? Okay, Little Fires Everywhere, The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding, and The Glass Castle.
Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favorite book of the year?
I’ll say White Fur. I have to start this soon and have a good feeling about it after seeing a few friends reviews.
Have you already started making reading plans for 2018?
Oh yeah, big plans for 2018. First, I plan to have better control of my TBR which has now just surpassed 10,000. There’s no way I can read all of those. I try to add books I genuinely want to read, but that’s just way too many. I also plan to have better control of my reading schedule. I tried working with lists, but find that I’m much happier just picking up a book when I want to and reading it when I feel like it. I also plan to control my ARC requesting. I requested too many this year and I’ll be lucky to have them all read and reviewed by the end of the year.
I was tagged by Claire @ BrizzleLassBooks for The Playlist Shuffle Tag. I’ve never done a tag like this and I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited to do one either! If you haven’t been to Claire’s blog, please go check it out. You’ll find wonderfully written book reviews, music, blog tours, and more. Claire’s also a great friend and I’m glad to know her.
- Put your music on shuffle and list the first 15 songs to play (no cheating).
- Tag 10 others to do it as well.
Here we go…
Seether – Driven Under
Alice In Chains – Would?
Stone Temple Pilots – Sex Type Thing
Imagine Dragons – Demons
Pearl Jam – Release Me
I want to talk about this one. This is one of my favorite songs of all time by Pearl Jam and I had plans to use it for Music Monday. I went ahead and picked this alternate video below because the song is in the movie and this movie is at the top for me. If you haven’t seen “Out of the Furnace” yet, you might want to check it out. It is a violent and emotional movie, but great.
Eurythmics – Here Comes The Rain Again
Pantera – Walk
Drake – Hotline Bling
Norman Greenbaum – Spirit In The Sky
Linkin Park – Numb
Soundgarden – Rusty Cage
Cold War Kids – First
Creed- One Last Breath
Sam Smith – I’m Not The Only One
Metallica – The Shortest Straw
I’ve been seeing this tag everywhere and couldn’t wait to do it. This tag was created by Shanah from Bionic Book Worm. All of the graphics used belong to her. I’d like to thank her for creating such a wonderful tag! This is my favorite time of year and I really enjoyed this. Here are some of the blogs I’ve seen recently that have done this tag…
The White Raven
I just read this last month and I loved it! It isn’t like any other book I’ve read this year and the story revolves around witches and magick. Perfect for this time of year!
The Kind Worth Killing
This is a psychological thriller that I really couldn’t figure out until the end and I was fairly shocked by it! I listened to this on audible and it’s one of my favorite books for 2017. I was late on this one.
The Bear and the Nightingale
I’m going to go with The Bear and the Nightingale. I read this one earlier in the year when it was still wintry outside and it was just perfect. I loved it. Sadly, I didn’t feel the same way with the second installment.
The Pumpkin Cookbook
by Edith Stovel
How about The Pumpkin Cookbook? I just bought this not to long ago and it’s one of my favorite cookbooks this year! It contains tons of recipes using pumpkin. Love Love Love!
by Blake Crouch
It’s hard to pick just one book for this, but I’ll go with Dark Matter. For me, I just couldn’t put this book down and I raced to the finish. It was a pretty crazy ride!
I definitely can’t just pick one! I have at least ten books that I’m highly anticipating, but I haven’t been able to get to them yet due to current reading responsibilities. These three are literally calling my name from my shelf and I look at them everyday.
Happy Friday! I thought I’d do a tag this morning to switch things up a little bit. I found this tag over at ThriceRead and enjoyed reading their answers. Be sure to check out this blog if you haven’t yet for tons of reviews, tags, and discussions.
- Thank the person who nominated you and add a link to their blog
- Answer the ten questions asked on this post
- Nominate at least five people to do it also
- Let your nominees know you nominated them
Describe your perfect reading spot.
My current favorite reading spot is in my room where it’s dark. I love my cozy chair and have a cool reading light next to it. It’s my favorite place to be, but I would be in heaven to have a reading spot such as this one below!
Tell us three book confessions.
1. I can’t read while riding in a car. I get car sick really bad.
2. On more than one occasion, I’ve been late making meals for my family due to being engrossed in a good book.
3. I love reading YA and even children’s books.
When was the last time you cried during a book?
I think in July when I read Bernard Jan’s Book A World Without Color.
How many books are on your bedside table?
About fifteen, but I have a mini-shelf built into it.
What’s your favorite snack to eat while you’re reading?
Right now, I love these coconut clusters that I picked up at Costco. They are so delicious and perfect with a hot cup of tea. Great for reading…
Name three books you would recommend to Everyone
The Pull and Kick Murder – A good who dun it mystery…
Until Tuesday – A very important book about a wounded U.S. veteran Luis Carlos Montalvan and his service dog.
The Hobbit – I’m currently reading this with my 9-year-old and we’re taking our time on it. We love it so much. I think even those who don’t like fantasy that much would still enjoy it.
Show us a picture of your favorite bookcase on a bookshelf.
This is my favorite bookshelf because all of my other shelves are a mess and not organized at all. This one isn’t necessarily organized, but the shelves are mostly hardcovers and matched into color groupings. It pleases me to look at it and it’s where I keep my figures and a few other trinkets too.
Describe how much books mean to you in just three words.

QUESTION 1: You’re on your way to a birthday dinner that your friends have thrown for you. When you arrive, your favorite author is having dinner by himself or herself and asks you to sit with them, before you even see your friends or they see you. You have two choices: (1) You can sit with the author but can’t tell your friends that you’ve abandoned them for three hours, or (2) Meet your friends and lose the only chance you’ll ever have to talk with the author. Pick one or the other — no exceptions or communication to your friends to tell them about the author — and explain why.
QUESTION 2: You’ve got an opportunity to spend a few hours alone “in your bedroom” with a character from any book you’ve previously read. The character tells you that (s)he would like to lock the door and spend some alone time with you. What book and character is it, and do you decide to enter the room and lock the door, or tell them you aren’t interested?
QUESTION 3: If you could turn any male character from one of your favorite books into a female character (or change a female into a male) in the book or book series, which one and why?
QUESTION 4: What blogger currently on your follower’s list (meaning they follow you too) do you admire the most and why?
QUESTION 5: If you could change any one decision your favorite book character made, what would it be and why?
QUESTION 6: If you could pick 1 character from a book and 1 character from a TV show you watch (that is NOT based on a book) to be in a relationship together, who would you choose, and why?
QUESTION 7: It’s your last day on Earth. As you are about to cross that final finish line, a mysterious shadow appears, giving you a choice: (1) You can go move forward to whatever comes next for you [based on your own spiritual or religious beliefs], or (2) you can become a character in a book series and exist permanently doing whatever that author chooses to do with you in the book. Which do you choose, and if it’s option 2, reveal the book and author.
QUESTION 8: If you could steal a pet from someone in any book you’ve read, but had to replace it with a friend’s pet (meaning they wouldn’t ever see their pet again), would you do it? If so, explain the who and why.
QUESTION 9: If you could turn someone from your real life into a character from a book, who from your life, who in the book and why?
QUESTION 10: Post a picture of the cover of a book you read in 2000 and the book you are currently reading now. (Note: if you weren’t alive in 2000, pick the first book you ever read and tell everyone what year it was from).
QUESTION 11: Your favorite character (under 18) needs a place to stay for 3 months and asks you if (s)he could stay in your spare room (yes, you have one for the sake of this question). Who is it and what is the reason (s)he needs to stay with you?
QUESTION 12: What are qualities that a favorite character of yours has that you wish you had as well? What character, what qualities and why? Pick a book you’ve read this year (you can change this question when added to your blog, but please let me know your answer to this question in the comments below)
If you choose not to accept the tag, you have to follow through on whatever dare the person who tags you chooses.
My dare was to write a Haiku poem about a book I hated.
I chose the dare. It takes a lot for me to hate a book and I don’t even like using the word, but one book stands out and I nearly hated it- It’s titled, The Happiest Mommy You Know. I’m not an author and don’t like book bashing, but I simply didn’t like this book. I understood her point, but it got out of hand in my opinion. I won’t get into that now. If you’re interested, you can see my review for it HERE.
Here’s my poem…
My children come first.
Really ♡ my yoga pants-
Continue to see who I tagged!
I learned about this tag from Rachel@paceamorelibri and couldn’t wait to do it. I really like the questions here. If you haven’t checked out Rachel’s blog yet, please do. She has many book reviews, awards, and wrap-ups to read.
1. Have You Ever Regifted A Book That You’ve Been Given?
I haven’t technically regifted a book, but one time I did secretly and carefully read a book that I bought for someone else before I gave it to them. Yikes! I couldn’t resist! It was a Nicholas Spark’s book.
2. Have you ever said you’ve read a book when you haven’t?
No. If I haven’t read a book, I’ll say I haven’t. When I DNF a book (rare), I normally tell people that I tried it but didn’t finish it.
3. Have you ever borrowed a book and not returned it?
I sort of have to admit to doing this. In elementary school, I had a teacher that brought in her copy of Bittersweet, a book of stories and poems. She thought that it was wonderful that I had an interest in writing poetry and she asked me to check out the book. I never gave it back and I still have it to this day. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to give it back, but mainly that she ended up leaving that year for some unexpected reason and I just never had the chance to give it back to her. I never saw her again. I still think about her sometimes.
Here it is:
4. Have you ever read a series out of order?
Not that I can remember. I’ve come real close though! Although I did read LOTR before The Hobbit which is backward I suppose since The Hobbit is the prequel. I’m reading The Hobbit with my youngest son now.
5. Have you ever spoiled a book for someone?
I think it’s possible. My mom reads and she often hears me talking about books and reads them after I do. Sometimes I get emotional and rant a little. I think for a few books, I may have mildly spoiled it for her.
6. Have you ever doggy eared a book?
No way. It’s a pet peeve! I would never do that. When I get books from the library and people have dog eared the pages, it drives me crazy. I’m weird about it.
7. Have you ever told someone you don’t own a book when you do?
I have to stick with Rachel’s answer on this! No? Why would I do that? Lol.
8. Have you ever told someone you haven’t read a book when you have?
Nope. I don’t know why someone would do that unless they’re really embarrassed to read something. I will say that when I read the Fifty Shades Trilogy, I wasn’t really comfortable telling people about it and didn’t shout it from the rooftops. It really isn’t my genre and I guess because I hadn’t read many books like it and it seemed weird explaining it to people due to the content, I just didn’t mention it.
9. Have you ever skipped a chapter or a section of a book?
Yeah, I have skimmed pages before, but never an entire chapter. This is something that I don’t like doing and I only do it if I’m super disgusted with a book.
10. Have you ever bad mouthed a book you actually liked?
No. I have no problem being honest about my opinions. Even with books I don’t like, I’m not much of a book basher.
I was tagged this week by sister book blogger Alex@coffeelovingbookoholic for the Summer Book Tag. I’d like to thank her for nominating me! This book is so twisty and even hard to read at times. It’s one of my cherished books by Jodi Picoult despite the content. She’s definitely a favorite author.
What is one book or series you hope to read this summer?
Wonder by R.J. Palacio
We read the children’s book this summer and I just purchased this a few weeks ago. I’m hoping to buddy read it with my oldest daughter…
I was recently tagged by two very awesome blogging friends Noriko@bookfiendsite and Claire@brizzleassbooks for the What Makes You Happy Tag. I’d like to thank both of these beautiful ladies for tagging me. They both have wonderful blogs so please check them out if you haven’t already. I feel lucky to know them both.
I was super excited to get tagged for this because I’ve been seeing it around and it looks really fun.
Let’s get started!
List 5 Things That Make You Happy:
- Family: My kids are like sunshine to me and brighten my days like nothing else. They consistently make me laugh, surprise me with new and amazing things, and make my life complete. My husband and my mom are my best friends and I’m lucky to have them as well.
- Music: I think many people relate to music in some way, but for me, music is a lifeline. Is it crazy to say that I wouldn’t exist without music? Music has made me who I am. It’s a part of me that cannot be taken away and integral to my existence. It’s motivating, mood-lifting, healing and nostalgic at times. I simply can’t say enough about it…
- Reading: I haven’t always loved learning, but I always loved to read and appreciate learning all that I can now. Reading soothes me, relaxes my body, stimulates my mind, and takes me places. Traveling through time, imaging life in someone else’s shoes, learning, escaping and enhancing my mood are all some of the reasons why I love reading.
- Having my health: I’ve said before how important it is to have your health, because if you don’t, you can’t live a very happy life. This is true for me and I appreciate the fact that I’m in control of my health. When I’m healthy, I’m happy and I can live my life fully.
- Freedom: I feel really lucky to have my freedom. I appreciate that I have the freedom to do what I want to do and it makes me very happy to have a choice to read what I want, eat what I want, sleep when I want, and pretty much be myself. I think these are things that we easily take for granted.
- Bonus! My Pups!
List 5 Songs That Make You Happy
Like Claire mentioned, this is a hard one. A lot of my music is also depressing, but surprisingly makes me happy. It’s way too hard to pick just 5, so I decided to pick songs that REALLY lift my mood and make me want to dance around the place…
INXS – Need You Tonight
It’s sad that Michael Hutchence took his own life because his music was some of the best. He was an amazing person and I wish he could’ve received the help he needed. I loved nearly every song they came out with and never get tired of listening to this song.
Men Without Hats – The Safety Dance
This one reminds me of when I was just a wee little one sitting in front of MTV. I loved this video so much and can remember skipping around to it. It’s songs like this that influenced my love for music in the first place…
Far East Movement – Like A G6
I don’t know what to say about this song, but it really gets me moving. It reminds me of New Year’s Eve…
Lorde – Tennis Court
Love the beat and lyrics…
Gotye – Somebody That I Used To Know – Radio Mix
I love this song, but the radio edit was probably the best version for me. I love the rhythm of it…

1. Find a book on your shelves with a blue cover. What made you pick up the book in the first place?
I really loved this book and the cover has to be one of my favorites. The cover baited me from the moment I saw it, but the fact that it was a Labyrinth retelling is what sold me.
2. Think of a book you didn’t expect to enjoy but did. Why did you read it in the first place?
I had to read this for a college sociology class and given the content, I didn’t think I would like it. It was actually really good and I couldn’t wait to get to the end to discover what was going to happen. It’s hard to believe, but it’s a true story.
3. Stand in front of your bookshelf with your eyes closed and pick up a book at random. How did you discover this book?
Half Broke Horses
I picked this up from a book sale for .50 cents along with The Glass Castle. It sounded interesting and I plan to read it this year. I still have to read The Glass Castle too which is now a movie!
4. Pick a book that someone personally recommended to you. What did you think of it?
A Monster Calls
Wow, when I first read this, I was so emotional. It wasn’t what I expected, but I still rated it 4 stars because it was good. I went back and read it all over again a few months later and ended up giving it a higher rating because I felt that the book deserved 5 stars. I personally just had a hard time with some of the events in the book.
I’ve been seeing this tag a lot lately, but recently read about it at Nel’s wonderful blog@ ReactionaryTales.com. Please visit Nel’s blog if you haven’t already. She’s a great friend to have with a blog full of interesting content!
How do you keep track of your TBR pile?
I don’t. I consistently add to my TBR and don’t worry about it.
Is your TBR mostly print or e-book?
It’s mixed, but mostly print. I don’t really pay attention to editions and formats. If I see a book I want to read, I just click it.
How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?
I don’t. I have so many books lined up that I rarely visit my TBR. I just read what I know is next in line with some occasional change ups.
A book that’s been on your TBR the longest.
I believe it’s Jamie McGuire’s Red Hill #1. I joined GR in 2008, but didn’t add books to my TBR until roughly 2013.
A book that you recently added to your TBR.
The Collector by John Fowles. It sounds pretty dark and it’s been awhile since I’ve read something like this.
A book on your TBR strictly because of its beautiful cover.
The entire Splintered Series by A.G. Howard.
I do plan to read them. 🙂
A book on your TBR that you NEVER plan on actually reading.
Brand VS Wild by Johnathan Lewis
I’m not a business woman or involved in business in general. I’m not sure why I added this one, but it’s not one that I would rush to read and probably won’t read at all. No offense to the author! I’m sure it’s a great book.
An unpublished book on your TBR that you’re excited for.
Ugly Beautiful Girl by Tracy Krimmer
I just found this at Donna’s blog @ Bookdragongirl.com! Excited. 🙂
A book on your TBR that basically everyone has read except you.
The Hobbit, but I’m reading it with my 9-year-old right now. Does that count? 😉

You are cast away onto a remote desert island:
- You can bring 5 albums – what are they?
- You can bring one book – which is it? You are provided with a Bible/ other religious text if you want it, as well as the Complete Works of Shakespeare. No series!
- You can have one luxury item (it has to be inanimate and can’t help you escape the island) – what is it?
I’m not sure who created this tag, but I found this over at Icebreaker694’s blog and instantly fell in love with it. If you haven’t been to this blog yet, check it out. There are YA book reviews, comics, anime posts, manga reviews and more! Don’t miss it. 🙂
This tag requires doing some fun online quizzes which will help yourself and others learn some of your traits. I learned a lot about myself answering some of these questions. I didn’t know most of these quizzes existed!
What Is the Meaning of My Name?
So, on WordPress and Goodreads I use the name Mischenko because it’s my family’s last name. I’m Russian from my grandmother’s side and the name is special to me. It doesn’t really have a meaning, but to me, the name = family. 🙂
What is my Myer-Briggs personality type? (Link)
LOGICIAN PERSONALITY (INTP, -A/-T)
I did a post on this a while ago with my results after I learned about it from a friend on Goodreads. Have you guys done this yet? It’s so fun. Here’s my original post.
-INTROVERTED – 83%
-INTUITIVE – 71%
-THINKING – 60%
-PROSPECTING – 66%
-TURBULENT – 97%
This personality test is very accurate for me. How about you?
I found this awesome tag over at bookswithbite.net and couldn’t resist. I wasn’t tagged for this, but it looked so fun! This book tag is called The Ultimate Book Tag and it was created by the ladies at Chapter Chicks. Please check them out!
1. Do you get sick while reading in the car?
Yes! I get so sick in the car whether I’m reading or not. It’s horrible, so most times I just listen to an audiobook or music.
2. Which author’s writing style is completely unique to you and why?
J.R.R. Tolkien. The prose is elegant and I love that his books can appeal to children and adults. I’m reading The Hobbit right now with my 9 year old son and we are both captivated. I love that even after seeing the movies, my son is totally enthralled by the book. We’re singing the songs right along with the dwarves. It’s the best experience I’ve had in a while.
3. Harry Potter Series or the Twilight Saga? Give 3 points to defend your answer.
Twilight Saga for sure.
- Family Bonds
- The beautiful setting in Northwestern America.
4. Do you carry a book bag? If so, what is it in (besides books…)?
Sometimes I do. When I do it holds everything else I need, including my cell phone and wallet, etc.
5. Do you smell your books?
Sometimes. I buy a lot of vintage books and there are times when they smell so strong you can’t help but smell them.
6. Books with or without little illustrations?
I love illustrations and tend to appreciate aesthetics, so I’ll say illustrations are always welcome. I’m a visual learner as well. Illustrations can be so important too! When reading Renee Paule’s book Just Around the Bend, the illustrations were so powerful and said a lot by themselves.
I wasn’t tagged for this, but found this one at https://fandomlybookish.wordpress.com/ and had to do it! I’d like to thank her for bringing this one to my attention. Please check out her blog for book reviews, blog tours & more if you haven’t yet. Here’s her TAG.
