“Jive Talkin’”

It’s nice to have something upbeat to start the week! This song just makes me want to dance. It’s said to be their comeback song of 1975. This was before I was born, but I imagine people just went crazy over it with the developing disco trend.

The rhythm for this song was actually inspired by the chunka-chunka-chunka sound of a car rolling over a bridge crossing Biscayne Bay near Miami. I read this morning that the Bee Gees went over this bridge on their way to Criteria Studios, where they were recording the Main Course album. Robin Gibb told The Mail On Sunday November 1, 2009: “We’d already thought up the title for this song, but it wasn’t until Barry, Maurice and I drove from Biscayne Bay to Miami that we realized what the tune was going to be. We had the idea as we passed over a bridge. Some tar noises made a rhythmic sound on the wheels of our car, which created the feel to the type of song we wanted to write. We finished the song at the Criteria Studios that day.”

Today’s share:

Ventura County Sheriff’s Dept. Lip Sync to the Rescue

Has anyone watched the show, Lip Sync to the Rescue? I’d never heard of it until seeing it in the news over the weekend. What a wonderful idea for police to engage with the community and bridge the gap between them. It’s not just sheriff and police departments doing it, but also fire departments and EMTs too.

Vanilla Ice actually congratulated Ventura County Sheriff’s Dept. for a job well done. Besides “Ice Ice Baby”, other songs in this video include “Rapper’s Delight” by The Sugarhill Gang, “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees, “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire, and “Whatever it Takes” by Imagine Dragons.

I just loved this. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
