“Hold On To Me”

I just finished up a new book, Live Your Life: My Story of Loving and Losing Nick Cordero by Amanda and Anna Kloots, which is the story of Amanda’s late husband Nick Cordero and his battle with Covid-19. The book is much more than just a story of Nick’s battle, sharing details about the life they shared and their families. I’ll be posting my review of the book soon because it releases on June 15th, 2021. Anyway, it inspired me to share this song today. “Hold On To Me” isn’t mentioned in the book, but many other songs are. I’ll share one of those later on with my review. Lauren Daigle’s latest song came to mind while reading this book because of Amanda’s unwavering faith. It was inspiring to me, and this song just seems to fit. Hope you enjoy.

“21 Years”

This is Toby Mac’s new song honoring the memory of Truett Foster McKeehan, his firstborn son. Truett died unexpectedly on October 23, 2019. It’s still so heartbreaking, and I can’t even imagine what it’s like lose a child. This is such a beautiful tribute…

21 Years’ is a song I wrote about the recent passing of my firstborn son, Truett Foster McKeehan. I loved him with all my heart. Until something in life hits you this hard, you never know how you will handle it. I am thankful that I have been surrounded by love, starting with God’s and extending to community near and far that have walked with us and carried us every day. Writing this song felt like an honest confession of the questions, pain, anger, doubt, mercy and promise that describes the journey I’m probably only beginning. The rest is yet to come. One thing I know is that I am not alone. God didn’t promise us a life of no pain or even tragic death, but He did promise He would never leave us or forsake us. And I’m holding dearly to that promise for my son as well as myself.

A Treasury of Christmas Miracles

My thoughts:

Joyful, inspiring, and full of hope–A Treasury of Christmas Miracles is a compilation of about fourteen true stories where people were blessed with a miracle, many connected to Christmastime.

“Unfortunately we live with a sense of urgency for all the wrong reasons. Perhaps our time would be better spent looking for the miracles that so clearly exist around us. Especially during the Christmas season.”

Christmas in Winter Hill

My review:

“God allows the rain to fall on the just and unjust. We’ve all had our troubles.”

Krista decided to relocate with her 8-year-old daughter, Emily, to Winter Hill, Washington. She’s taking on a new job as city manager and hoping for a new start. Winter Hill seems like a sweet little town, but Krista soon learns that along with this small town comes a huge annual Christmas festival, and as city manager she’s going to have to get involved. The issue is that Krista really doesn’t like Christmas. Growing up in foster homes, Christmas was never her favorite time of year and only brings back memories or her past. The town seems welcoming at first, but once Krista starts making changes at her new job everything becomes quite a mess, and it seems like moving to Winter Hill may have been a huge mistake.

“Christmas is a time for miracles. Maybe it’s time for yours.”
