Roundlobe Hepatica

Roundlobe Hepatica is an early spring perennial herb that can be found in dry woodlands and rocky slopes. The flower stalks emerge from a blanket of fallen leaves and bloom before the trees awaken in spring.

I came across this beautiful flower while hiking trails alongside Lake Michigan. There it was, alone, in an area with nothing but leaves and trees. It stuck out like a sore thumb.

Garden Phlox

Native to the U.S., garden phlox is a flowering plant that can be found just about anywhere; in fact, I came across this beautiful flower while driving my car down the road just a few days ago. It’s hard to miss their vivid colors.

Mountain Mint

We’re sort of obsessed with mint and have about seven different varieties growing. The township that we live in actually has a strong mint farming history which sort of inspired me to start a mint collection. Mountain mint is one I chose because of its compact and noninvasive growth. It’s also super cheap to start from seed.

Yarrow is an herb I started growing about five or six years ago. I developed an interest in using it as a poultice powder for wounds and tea for pain and relaxation. So far, I’ve only used it for tea. It has many different medicinal uses. Continue reading “Flower Friday: Yarrow #FlowerFriday #Gardening #Flowers #Herbs”
